 s p e c i a l  e g g  e v e n t | journey church

The event that proves anything is possible. It was suppose to rain that afternoon but God answered our prayer with a "yes" and it held off. What a blessing! Drake stadium filled with around 1,200 people. This event was held for the greater Des Moines area for kids with special needs and their families. Kids with special needs that don't usually get to participate in egg hunts. Kids that proved that day anything is possible.

There were specific egg hunts for those who could not see (beeping eggs), those you could not walk (magnetic pole used to pick up the magnetic egg), a quiet hunt (for the autistic), and a general hunt for siblings and families. The day was filled with exciting things like the easter bunny, meeting Mrs. Iowa (shout out and thank you to her for taking time to come), the petting zoo at Blank Park Zoo, games, crafts, and prizes. Oh and MAJOR shout out to FAMOUS DAVES who provided food for all. Wow. We are forever grateful.

My church (Journey Church) had one goal in mind and that was to make a difference. Little did we know that difference would be made in us. When you hear a beautiful kid yell out, "I found it! I found the egg!" as she crawls on the ground looking for the next egg...your eyes begin to well up with tears. joy. Heart exploding joy. I think one of my favorite things was even watching the parents faces light up as they witnessed their kid doing something they normally were never allowed the opportunity to do. I will not ever forget those smiles. If you're like me you would have left that day with unexplainable happiness, tear filled eyes, and a full heart. It was an honor and a blessing.

On the way home a song came to mind I grew up singing...Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white...they are precious in His sight...Jesus loves the little children of the world. Thank you Jesus for these children and for this amazing day.
